17 Year-old Girl Shows 2 Muggers What She Learned at Band Camp

Let it be known far and wide right now: the girls from the marching band of the Quartz Hill district of Los Angeles are not to be trifled with.
Our two dipsticks who tried to mug a 17 year-old member of the marching band learned that the hard way. It looks like the older folks aren’t the only ones fighting back now.
Los Angeles County sheriff’s Deputy Michael Rust says the Quartz Hill girl was walking to school April 24 when two men approached her from behind, tried to grab her coat and demanded money.
Instead, one got a punch in the nose and the other a kick to the groin. Rust says the girl then beat both of them with her band baton before she ran away.

I fully support this girl, and anyone else, who stands up for themselves in the defense of self and/or loved ones. This does not mean that people use this idea as a method of doing something stupid or undeserving; But that has nothing to do with political opinion and using at a drive for it is weak and insubstantial at best.

Steve, Dave, the rest, folding batons can easily be concealed and cause major injuries such as possible death or severe head trauma. Because they can be concealed, thieves, gang members and the rest favour them to a point. Especially for high school students to carry. I know I used to carry similar weapons in high school. They should be outlawed without proper training and or licensing.
Eamon, making informed decisions and lemmings has nothing to political affiliation. The need for acceptance from our social group gives humanity a hive mind by default, which in essence makes us all lemmings. If you’re really informed you would realize this and educate instead of insult.
